Ogeechee River Update & Potential Impacts (Tuesday, November 12, 2024, 4:40 PM)
The Ogeechee River is predicted to crest tomorrow (Nov. 13, 2024). This means that some low-lying areas will experience flooding, potentially impacting some of our residents' ability to travel to work or school.
The good news is, based on the current data, we don't expect any homes or buildings to be flooded.
Based on the latest information from the Southeast River Forecast Center, the flooding will peak over the next 12-24 hours with the anticipated water level just over 7.4' or 7 feet 5 inches. The attached maps show 7' and 8' inundation to provide an idea of what areas could experience flooding.
What this means for you:
Street flooding is likely: This rise in water level will cause some streets to flood and become impassable, particularly for low-riding vehicles. Avoid driving through flooded areas.
Yard flooding: You might see some water pooling in your yard.
Check the maps: View the maps HERE showing which areas could be affected so you can see what to expect.
Move your vehicle: If you're in a low-lying area, move your vehicle to higher ground immediately as a precaution.
We expect flooded streets in low-lying areas to remain an issue until the water recedes with a few tide cycles, likely by Friday or Saturday. Please be aware of potential impacts and make informed decisions about your movements over the coming days.
