City of Richmond Hill officials are closely monitoring COVID-19 (Coronavirus) developments and heeding the expert guidance being offered by a variety of local, state, and federal agencies.

Ensuring the public health and safety for residents, visitors, and local businesses is the City of Richmond Hill’s top priority. City officials are also working to ensure the health and welfare of its city staff and continued essential city services.

“Each new day brings more information,” said Mayor Russ Carpenter. “We want to make sure we’re protecting public health and safety without unnecessarily contributing to public fears.”

According to a March 12 update provided by the Georgia Public Health Department, there are no known cases of Coronavirus in Bryan County currently. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to emphasize the importance of personal steps to protect yourself, including frequent hand-washing, avoiding contact with those who are sick, and staying home if you are sick among several other important steps.

The CDC website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronav…/2019-ncov/about/prevention.html) also offers recommendations for those more vulnerable populations including older adults and those who suffer from chronic and underlying health conditions such as heart and lung disease.

The City will continue to provide important updates via its website (http://www.richmondhill-ga.gov) and social media accounts regarding any closures or cancellations due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
